One000plateaus has been invited to be part of the PURPOSE PARTY being planned for 30th march in Boat House N0.5 in the Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth.
A PURPOSE PARTY is a party with a difference, a party with a purpose, a space for businesses to embrace their purpose – Purpose Party. It brings together some of the most impactful, sustainable businesses, organisations and creative changemakers in the South to converse, create, collaborate and form connections to shape change Hosted in a unique, historic venue you’ll be able to watch, listen, share, talk, create and do throughout the day.
One000plateuas contribution to the PURPOSE PARTY will be an AV artist’s potlatch or happening in a corner of Boat House N0.5 where we will stage a mixed media, cross-arts, audio-visual orientated performance, and immersive experience. Think Dada, Fluxus, the Situationist International, think Burning Man.
An artist’s potlatch is a gift-giving, a celebration of community built through reciprocity. It embodies the principles of “radical” inclusion, self-reliance, self-expression, community cooperation, gifting, de-commodification, and leaving no trace. It is an open platform for digital arts, performance and media, a temporary autonomous zone in which artists and performers can play.
Live arts, performance, music, audiovisual, video, spoken word, installations, psycho-geographers, cyber artists, hackers, interstitial architects, laptop artists, kinetic sculptors, painters, photographers, and theatre makers – all be welcome to respond to an open call issued by the organisers and contribute to this event.
Contributors can be solo artists, part of a group, a loose collective, students, or professionals. They can exhibit a work in progress, an existing piece or something they have developed specifically for the event. There are no rules other than we ask that artists embrace our principles, respond to the trigger and be willing to work collaboratively with the other artists contributing to the event.
Artists Trigger:
- TITLE: The Purpose of Dreams
- READING: 道德經 – Dao De Jing, Laozi, 400BC.
- CONCEPT: para-teleology asks us to go beyond the notion that entities have intrinsic purposes, to embrace the chaos of the universe and the flow of Nature.
The role of the organisers:
- Artist’s submissions will be curated by the organisers, and we expect submissions to respond to themes outlined in the trigger reading.
- The organisers will pay reasonable travel expenses and will provide technical facilities (lighting, sound, projectors etc…) required to stage artworks.
- The organisers will facilitate a location for the event and provide event and stage management services in support of artists making and exhibiting work.
- The organisers will undertake to promote the event and the contributing artists in advance on the understanding that contributing artists supply the organisers with promotional copy, images and other promotional material in advance of the event.
- Though the event will be ticketed by the Purpose Party organisers one000plateuas will not derive any income from the event.
